KEL-F(R) (PCTFE) (PLASTICS) - Polychlorotrifluoroethylene is highly transparent. It also exhibits good electrical properties, and is resistant to most common solvents at room temperature. PCTFE is less permeable to gasses and water vapor than any other transparent film.
KEY - A single lug of metal applied at the intersetction of the head and shank. It engages a mating notch in the panel to provide increased spin-out resistance. The required notch in the panel is often difficult to produce and the insert must be carefully aligned during installation.
KEYED - A style of blind threaded insert that uses a key for increased spin-out resistance.
KNURL - Checkered or straight notches on the outside diameter of a part. A tooth pattern applied to a part to give it resistance to rotation.
KNURL PLATFORM - In screw machine work the stop which is present on the part before the knurling operation.
KYNAR(R) (PDVF) (PLASTICS) - Polyvinylidene fluorides has a useful temperature range of -148F to 320F. It has good strength, creep resistance and weatherability; Like some other chlorinated engineering plastics, it will not support combustion in air.
